Cloud Shower..!

We had planned for it in year 2011. Conquering "Keokradong;" one of peak of my country. After many uncertainties we made up a team of 13 men. After one and half day journey we reached Bogalake (near station point), Bandarban. 16th November early morning we started trekking. Finally after 3 hour and 37 minutes of trekking we reached our final destination; the mighty Keokradong.

Peak portion was so much clouded, as we couldn't able to see anything approx 10 meter apart. We were inside cloud level and it was raining in down portions. When I was a kid, cloud was a mystery to me. I always had thought how it would be like! Mystery was solved when I grew up but fantasy has always haunted me. How it would at be from inside! Queries finally quenched. In rain time inside cloud level it seems densely foggy element. You can't touch it but always can measure it, feel it. Whole team was filled with zest. For an amateur this moment was tremendous. This tour made us more enthusiastic for the upcoming one; touring largest mangrove forest of the World, The Sundarbans, Bangladesh.

Fire!! Fire!!

October 16th, 2011 sunny morning my 1st day in a corporate life may be for a temporary short role; as an intern. Hardly managed it on time; entered at 9:30 am Islamic Development Bank office 5th floor; KAFCO corporate office. Two senior colleagues welcomed me with happy faces and showed me my desk. Office executive brought morning tea at my desk. Sound sunny morning with a good start.

I just took tea cup; before getting the taste suddenly emergency alarm ranged! Fire! Fire! My pleased eyes on a moment transformed to a mid night owl’s eyes!!  What!

One senior colleague rushed to my desk and said, come on hurry! My shocked unconscious my just caught the word “Hurry”! Didn’t noticed what did he said next. No one taking lift to go down all are taking emergency exit way.  I followed my senior colleagues and finally came out of building. Still emergency alarm was ranging; and little crowed outside. Every one of 20 storied IDB building came out. Crowed was looking at building but where is the fire!

Ambulance siren; serious moment! All of KAFCO employees took to a safe place at left side lane of IDB computer market in a particular space. Other office employees were standing in their restricted particular spaces. I thought what a disciplined way to react at emergency situations. My company supervisor senior
colleague Section manager sales and marketing said it happens each year at least for once! I was even more shocked! What! This building contains offices of united nation, UNDP and other international organizations! And fire a regular event here!!

Everyone was standing relaxed and saying hello to others. Then my mind responded something I took too seriously! I asked my supervisor senior colleague, does it takes place in October each year! He replied, yes mostly and fire fighting training is a mandatory practice for all the offices located this building and it’s a
condition given by United Nation office of the building. I stayed silent, couple of minutes. Firstly, didn't found the logic why people of all ages should run this way and why elderly peoples had to take stairs for training in this long multi-storied building!

Lately realized, it just not a practice it’s a tactics how to react and respond in emergencies. Danger doesn't emerge differently for different ages. It requires discipline and attention to assure safety for all.

This event might not have direct impact on financial actions. But importance of this practice is even more worthy than burning office because life is more precious. Every year thousands of workers of our RMG sector dying just because of lacking of emergency situation trainings. May be fire brigade had stopped those fires but the lost those worker’s families has to admit could never be healed with any halon.

An hour long firefight training session ended at 11 am. We all were returning at office in disciplined way. Back on desk, in the mean time fresh hot tea transformed to brown water! Requested for another; was taking tea and was thinking the day I went inside o office I brought everyone of building outside! What a start!! :-/
